YESSSSS IT was quite the moment. I saw the Gorillaz with opening act The Internet at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. I went by myself cause the people i know always say "who?" "never heard of them" .... i sat next to a man and his young son, and two younger ladies on the other side, I think I even shed a few tears ..... WE HAD THE BEST FREAKING TIME!! I danced and sang the entire night, I am 58 years old.. Yes, it was MAGICAL with all the lights everywhere. I kick myself everytime for not going to Demon Days Festival last year...

the more i listen to this song, the more depressing it gets. the story in the song appears to be about following a relationship that is drifting away, but you keep on going because of the embers of good in it - the fireflies...but you can only see them in the dark. and the 6/4 time signature also is cyclical and goes in the pattern, where the first verse ascends, then falls again. in the chorus is ascends higher and higher then tumbles down again. kind of reflecting how emotionally draining the relationship is because when it's high it's high but when it's low it is LOW.

This line is the defining line of the whole song for me. I see it as if albarn is going into another dimension (says goodbye to reality) but unfortunately, you can't allow yourself to trip too much since life's responsibility, your loved ones, your entourage will notice and will try to get a hold of you ( the sentinels). This entourage is trying to resolve that issue and so "switch him off" of drugs. Basically this songs to me represents Albarns drug use and how he loves to drift away from reality and follow whatever feeling he is consumed with (the fireflies). However, it feels like he is abusing (getting drunk or dopesick) and then he realizes that he is neglecting his real life and relationships. Hence " I got drunk, im sorry, Am I loosing you?"

Fire Flies is the greatest song i've listened to this year. This changing time signature is hypnotizing. I can just lie in bed and listen to it all night and somehow I have tears in my eyes.

Maybe is just me, but this album feel more mature, like Albarn and Hewlett have been experimenting for a long time, and this time they decided to deal with their nostalgia and age (they're both 50 now). This album reminds me of the songs we had back in the late 80's and 90's. In fact, it brought me a wave of nostalgia (specially this one) when I listened it for the first time. It's like meeting a new friend you have known for your entire life. It's weird, and I can't stop listening it.

@@AndresRodriguez-fs1pt idk why you would ask a dance with him/her/it but it's just that I didn't expect to find that comment unless it was to put in a context of a romantic dance with Fireflies playing in the background, multiple lights spinning and piercing through the dark of the room filled with people but even then, you still feel that there's only you and him/her/it, that kind of atmosphere or an honest question on literally dancing with him/her/it.

That bass line is thicc. As much as I miss Murdoc- Ace can hella bass.

It’s the peppermint tea

This song means the world to me. Reminds me of my dog May. We've been together since both of us were newborns. in 2018 she was already very old, and got ill. I would sing this to her when she wouldnt eat. Many nights i would sit by her side and sing this while patting her and sobbing. Thanks, gorillaz, for letting me immortalize her in this song.

Love the talking wah effect on the bass line, interesting sound and really drives the song.

An Elder Hispanic woman from Honduras raised me and my brother and over time took care of my immediate family. She lived with us from the time I was 2 years old till 22 years old. She was getting older in her age and subtly weaker; the language barrier became greater as I grew up. She left us this year because I thought her health was affecting her quality of life. The same month she left, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. I listen to this and think of her every time I hear this and cry. I miss her and want to tell her how sorry I am that I was ignorant of her pain, of even her language. I'm greatly thinking of making a photo/ video montage of her to this song and sending it to her explaining this. I love you, Ana.

This and Magic City really makes me start breaking into tears, this whole album fills me with emotions that no other album does. The Now Now will forever be my favorite album from Gorillaz.
