This song was written because of gun violence in schools. Particularly an event with Damons daughter's school. It's really sad to still see these things happening all these years later. This song would've really had more of an impact if it came out more recently with the rise in gun violence in schools.

As someone who lives in America, this song really hits hard. Ever since Columbine, school shooting just have been getting worse and worse here in the States. Especially down in the south, and I swear, nobody wants to do anything about it. We don't have to get rid of guns entirely, but we need to change the rules for guns. With 3D printed guns there's nothing people can do, I'm glad to be going to high school next year so I can get this shit down with and not worry about losing my life, hopefully I can get enrolled online. But I still worry about the current and future generations, they still have to risk their life when heading to school which is awful, hopefully something can be done about this but I don't know I don't see it slowing down as mental illness is rising.

I know what the song is about, but I have a loose theory that this song is loosely based on the deaths of Russel's Highschool friends. 1: Guns. It was a shooting. That one is kinda self explanatory. 2: At some points in the song you can hear a roar of a car. The shooting was a drive by shooting. 3: Near the end, Russel is pounding on the drums SO HARD. almost like he's really emotional. Breaks my heart :'(
