My favorite thing about this song is how the chord changes on the fifth measure every 7 throughout the whole song except in the final 8 measures it does it on the 6th and then it finally feels complete .

There's so many little details I'm absolutely in love with here: -The fact that Noodle was like "We gotta infiltrate a cult, which will require a disguise, time to wear booty shorts and a crop top" and that Murdoc was like "Ah yes, I can wear my old cult uniform". The fact that they're both completely right is astonishing. -When the crew are sneaking up on the cultists all three of them waltz up like absolute gremlins, the absolute most conspicuous they can be -That neither Murdoc or Spoon Lady can pull 2-D back up, which implies that the cultist who was lowering him before had just inhuman strength. -2-D is wearing a shirt that, as far as I can tell, says "I am the lamb" probably in reference to him being sacrificed here. Which means he either planned to be captured by the cult, or that they put him in the shirt beforehand, both of which are hilarious -The fact that Murdoc runs as soon as the cops show up

If you dig a bit deeper, it also gets darker, and in this case the shirt reference is about how music artist today are "sacrificed" to unwillingly become a dark "envoyer" with subliminal and symbolic messages via lyrics or MV. This is also tied directly to the title of the song "Silent running" as a lot of artist today dont have a choice and just comply but deep inside they are desperately running away.

-murdoc and spoon lady can’t pull 2D back up: she *was* slowly pulling him back up. might just be a smidge weaker than the other guy, it’s harder to pull someone up than lower them down, or they just made it take longer to make it make sense. Plus, Murdoc only dropped him because the unexpected weight from her letting go put extra pressure on murdoc so he fell forward. Like playing tug of war then letting go, the person you’re playing against will most likely fall backwards regardless of how strong they are.

Been here that long and I'll never leave they are one of those groups that have never written a bad album or song...

They are timeless bc they are virtual. Damon had the vision when it first started; an ever-revolving door of amazing artists to fulfill the role of each character. It has evolved much further but man, what an idea and I am looking forward to new Gorillaz music up until the day that I die. Hell, I was a Damon fan, already, from his time with blur. The first album blew me away and they've been the soundtrack for my life

This is up there within my top 5 Gorillaz songs, what an absolute banger.

Being able to hear the faint influence of the Mike and the Mechanics song throughout this is a real treat for me. Silent running (on dangerous ground) is a very special song to me.

I was in my early teens and I fell in love with the Gorillaz and here I am 34 and still loving them !

The "hands up" ending pose was an epic shot❤️ Also amazing prequel story to Cracker Island

@@abraham52976 she comes back from the dead in cracker island, all the gang are in the hospital other than murdoc, who ran away in silent running, its 100% a prequel. These 2 points you made are things that work no matter what as we dont know her intentions. also, in this she disliked murdoc, why would she dislike him after making out with him? she didnt like him at first but then fell for him in the hospital.

The first time i listened to this was on calm day while music was playing. Since then I have it I'm my favorite list. Thanks a lot for the great music!

Giving the fact that there's weird liquid probably blood on the floor and Murdoc is dresses like a cult leader and 2-D is drugged the police would think that Murdoc tried to sacrifice 2-D so that's why he ran I think. Or he doesn't want to go back to jail because he has a record of going to jail

Gorillaz are seriously one of the greatest bands of all time. The visuals and beautifully composed. Gorillaz is just too good.

I fell in love with this music since the 1st time I heard it. It is glued in my mind since then! Other day, by chance, I watched his interview to Pedro Bial, one of our best journalist!

Gorillaz and their music videos alone basically blurs the line between a movie and a video. I have quite literally found myself watching their videos on repeat and explaining the lore of each character to my step mom today. I have so much to thank for Gorillaz and their amazing music because they helped me feel more confident in everyday life with their weird and funky music.

Aww , the part where 2-D’s being brought down on the wheel , the moment he turns around , a few tears came down my face. That look he gave just broke my heart 😞. I loved the MV and I’m very happy 2-D was saved by his beloved band mates ❤️ Thank you Gorillaz for such great content/music! EDIT : I just noticed he had tears in his eyes at 1:26 , I’M CRYING EVEN MORE , I love that man so much

That’s so fulfilling seeing Gorillaz getting a big-budget MV. Thank you for your music and everything you guys produce!

Even though this is an amazing song, if not the best song from the Gorillaz. When you listen to the lyrics it is the most depressing song they have ever wrote. When this song came out I couldn't stop listening to it and i went out for a drive one night and I almost died from drunk driving. I ended up with a DUI and I'm still dealing with the consequences now. I'm not writing this saying the Gorillaz ruined my life, I'm here to say that music is very powerful and you never know which song can impact you for the rest of your life. And even though this song made me experience one of the worst moments I've ever had in my life I'm still glad to be here and listen to this beautiful song. Because everytime I listen to it now it takes me back to that moment and I understand now that this was my lowest moment and I will never fall back there again. Just remember if you ever feel alone there is always a song that listens to you. It helped me and i hope it helps others too

Gorillaz now has better CGI than marvel

Loving how expressive you lot all are in these MV's from the slightest facial detail to the exaggerated movements. So good.

The level of detail is amazing! When the cops show up, at 3:23 you can see Noodle mouth "F*ck!"
